NICHOLI AND GAVIN~2nd cousins

Gavin, Nicholi, Tom and I "camped" out one night in the tent trailer.

And we can't forget the frog hunting where Nicholi fell in the Golf Course Pond up to his neck. Oops. Glad  he wasn't hurt.

Boo and Papa's Big Bass of the Day

Tom, Gavin & I went and worked on a vacant listing Tom has to clean up the yard a little. We needed some pliers for the mower and the next door neighbor was outside so we asked him if we could borrow them even tho he couldn't speak very good English. He finally understood & lent them to us. Gavin returned them & told him Gracias Senore. The Mexican guy got the biggest smile & Gavin said "He was surprised I could speak a different language!"

Mimi Day 060811

Tom's Doctor told him he needed to start taking 10,000 steps per day. I googled this and found out it's about 5 miles. So this morning I got up and said I was going for a walk and he said I'll go with you. WHAT~ No begging? I was happy he went with me. Thank You Dr. Marie.
Then Gavin & I got out the swimming pool, caught a fish to put in it, and he practiced golfing a little by hitting Papa's old golf balls in the lake. We made cookies, read books, and went to Clay's father in law's, girlfriends, daughters (or my daughter in laws, fathers, girlfriends, daughters), birthday party at Spaghetti Factory. Wow, a full day!

Lori sent this BLAST FROM THE PAST this morning

This must've been taken in 1977 or 1978. That was our dog Kilo and our trusty GMC truck that  Tom cut a hole in the roof and installed a sunroof.

Big Bass of the Day

This is the big bass Boo and I caught this morning. Oh, did I mention he was dressed and waiting for Josh's parents to take him to lunch for his cousins birthday party? A little fish smell never hurt anyone.
Look Mom what I caught! Those Mimi kisses do the trick every time.

Our Day at the Zoo

Today was a big day. Chels, Boo and I went to the zoo all by ourselves. Since the accident we've went to ballgames and Wal-Mart but Tom's always been with us to handle the wheelchair & help us. Well today we did it.  A wonderful day spent at the zoo and even a trip to Sam's Club. Another baby step for us.

Learning the Rules

At age 5 all the baseball league is doing is trying to teach the basic rules. Every kid plays every position, every kid hits, every kid runs home. You can tag a player out, but he still gets to be on base and score. Everyone is a winner. The real winner of this game was a little guy on 3rd base. Gavin knew him from soccer and when Gavin hit the ball and ran to 1st base, the little guy (on the other team) ran from 3rd base to 1st base and gave Gavin Five. He taught us all a lesson about being awesome!

"K" looking at bugs.

Killian was eating dinner and dropped a pea on the floor. He said "Shit, I mean Shoot".
Clay & Tara said they're not sure where he heard this and tried really hard not to laugh.

Memorial Day Week-end. It poured all week-end until Mon night around 6:00 when it turned beautiful.

Chels learned to make the neatest beads from magazine pages and all the kids got necklaces.

Memorial Day Culprits

Last year in 2010 the Thursday night before Memorial Day week-end I was picking up this mirror to move it and it fell out of the antique clips and broke my toes.
So this year 2011 the Thursday night before Memorial Day week-end I went to the store to get these cute planters for our patio. I bent down to pick one up and this spike went under my glasses and sliced my eyeball. The Dr said it was a long scratch, right over my vision, but it wasn't very deep. Luckily it healed up in about 4 days, two Dr. Appts and $73.00 worth of antibiotic drops.
Next Memorial Day I'm just going to ask for the Friday before Memorial day off and get out of town.

Anniversary Road Trip

Sat morning around 10am I was on the treadmill, watching a DVR of Brothers & Sisters and Tom came up and asked if I wanted to do something crazy.  He said Wendell & Carole are at the cabin, lets drive up. I had a million reasons why we couldn't. I had a facial scheduled, laundry to do, and Boo and Chels to take care of,  but most of all it was a 4.5 hr drive each way.  He asked me if  he took care of everything would I want to go, then reminded me 4.5 hrs was how long it took to golf 18 holes. So I'm thinking Go on a nice road trip to see beautiful country and good friends or stay home while he golfs 18 holes.(One advantage to being married this long is I knew what he was thinking) ha  I had my bag packed and was in the car an hour later.  I think we were in the car 11 hours, at the cabin 16 hours, which 7 of those hours we were sleeping. Then we were back home, relaxed and ready for another week. It was such a quick trip we didn't even stop to take pictures of any of the beautiful scenery. There's something about being in the car, talking, and looking at the most amazing landscapes (because of all the rain the colors of the mountains & clouds & grass looked like God had pushed Boost on photoshop) that puts life back into perspective.

Happy Anniversary Tommy.

Thirty-five years ago two teenagers got married. Call it luck, call it love, or call it hard work but it's been a great 35 yrs. Here's hoping for 35 more.

HOT FLASHES & BROKEN BUTT

Gavin is very hot blooded and yesterday told me He was having a HOT FLASH.
Chelsea said he's been hanging out with Mimi too much! ha

Killian must've been listening to Clay & Tara talking about Chelsea's back being broken because he
asked "Is Aunt Chelsea's BUTT Broken?"

Pictures by our Little Artists

Gavin is very obsessed with bugs right now. I love this spider he drew. It looks like it's winking.

Killian told us Thank you for Mexico over and over. It was so sweet and I was wishing I had it on video. We got this masterpiece in the mail. Love it!

Friday the 13th.

This morning as I glanced at the calendar to see what was on our schedule I told Tom "Today is Friday the  13th". Without batting an eye he said "Great, today is our lucky day!" That's why I love him.

My blue eyed mexican eating his daily jalapeno with dinner. He's my rock.

Sisters

A big thank you to my sister & my niece for visiting, and my sisters husband for letting them come stay a whole week with us. I'm trying to think of everything positive that is happening because of Chelsea's accident and this was one of them. Getting to spend a week with family that otherwise we would never take the time out of our busy lives to do. And for Lacey to choose to spend her 20th birthday with us instead of staying home and celebrating with friends was a huge deal to us.
We had alot of therapy 101 talks while Lori was here and I learned a lot of from her; like it's OK to cry. I learned that we are so differn't, yet so much alike. I learned she is a wonderful cook.  She made us the best potatoes and chicken and smoothies. She put spinach in our smoothies each morning and they were wonderful. She kept reminding us to drink lots of water and she put special aromatherapy oils on us so we'd sleep better at night.  My Tom kept calling us his "sister wives".
We got a couple long walks in (between soccer, t- ball, pre-school, & shopping) and  I just know if she lived closer I would be much healthier.
Thanks Lori & Lacey & Tom!

Heart Shape at Chelsea's Accident Site

Tom took Lori to the spot where Chelsea got in her accident and she spotted this heart shape where the oil spilled out of her car. It gave me goose bumps when they called and told me and even touched me more when I saw the pictures. We knew an angel or two was  watching over her that night, and here's another sign. Lori told Chels "This is where your angel caught you".
