Vacation and Stress

My theory has always been I refuse to stress over vacations because I feel lucky when we get to go on vacation. With that said...We booked a week in Mexico and then the Government was shut down for 35 days. So between the air traffic controllers working with no pay and our President talking about building "the wall" we decided to cancel our vacation and lose our deposit. We then booked hotels in St. George and Lake Havasu to go see Wendell and Carole. The day we were supposed to leave on our road trip a snow storm hit hard and more snow was forecast. The thought of driving in the snow both directions did not sound fun. So with much discussion we cancelled that. I was very sad. So I got online and checked out flights to Las Vegas thinking we could drive to AZ from there. They were outrageous. Then I just happened to look at Costco travel at the vacation we cancelled and it was pretty darn reasonable considering we would leave the next morning. The weather forecast was sunny and 85 degrees everyday. So a much shorter vacation, but the nicer resort La Estancia next door. We hurried and packed and woke up the next morning with a kind of "What did we do?" OUR CUTE PHOTOBOMBERS. We had perfect weather and a perfect room. We met Teresa and David Elsie from Niagara Falls Canada and went to dinner two nights with them. We saw a baby turtle trying to get to the ocean. We had 2 beach massages and found lots of sea glass. Sad we didnt get to go to Lake Havasu and celebrate Caroles bday with her but happy we weren't stuck home in the snow.
