Russian Massages at Izba (iz-ba\:log cabin) Spa

Last year for Christmas we got mom a gift certificate for a Russian Spa Treatment. Lori's boss who is a chiropractor recommended them. Since mom still had it Lori and I decided we would go with her  this week end to celebrate her 80th birthday and to honor Gma Uhrich who was born in Russian. What we requested is called the Flu Prevention Treatment 1 3/4 Hrs.   Here's what we got:
(1) A one hour massage in one small room with all three of us and three male masseus's.
(2) Banya Treatment. After massages we went into the sauna. It was very hot. They sprinkled aromas and water on the hot rocks to open up the pores of our skin. Once we started to perspire he took oak/birch leaves that had been in water and sprinkled the water on us then begin to stroke, brush and tap (or as Lori said spank) us from neck to toes. After this he came in with a bucket of ice cold water and poured it on us from left foot to neck to right foot. At this point we found out Mom is not a screamer, and Lori and I are. We're also wondering what the hell Lori has got us into....Next comes a honey rub to draw out toxins and to soften our skin. Then a shower to get the honey off.
(3)  And the final was a body mask. It had seaweed and mud and smelled like a sushi bar. One more shower and we finished with tea and an orange.
Would we go again? Probably not. The massages were wonderful. We laughed so hard that it was probably the healthiest thing we did and The memories were priceless.
Oh and of course mom got her camera out of the bag to snap a couple memory making pics.
